Z1 and Z2 Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME)

This Product DOES NOT Require a Prescription

Product Description

The HDM Z1 and Z2 heat moisture exchanger (HME) captures exhaled moisture and returns it to the user providing a waterless humidification system while using the machine. The Z1 / Z2HME is an inline humidification solution for use with the Z1 and Z2 Base Travel CPAP Machine and the HDM Z1 and Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine.

Humidification is used to help reduce the chances of the positive airway pressure from drying the nasal passage while using a CPAP machine. Humidity keeps the nasal passage moist allowing the user to be comfortable while the air is being provided.

The HDM Z1® and Z2® CPAP Machines do not provide an option for a powered heated humidification system, yet uses the HME as the humidity option for a user.

Special Features

An alternative to large humidifiers.

Mask: When selecting a mask, the Heat Moisture Exchange Unit for CPAP Machines will not work with masks that have a short tube extended from the mask frame. The HME must be very close to the moisture of exhaled air to function properly. It must be connected to a mask with a simple elbow in order to give optimal results.

Cleaning: The Heat Moisture Exchange Unit for CPAP Machines cannot be cleaned. The manufacturer suggests replacing the unit after using it up to seven nights.

The Heat Moisture Exchange Unit for CPAP Machines is universal, and it is compatible with all CPAP, APAP, or BiPAP machines.

How Often Should I Replace My Filters?

To make sure that the air quality you breathe during the
night is high and safe, you need to replace or clean the CPAP filters
periodically. If you have pets, have someone in your home who smokes, or have a
wood-burning stove, you will need to replace the filters more regularly. Disposable
CPAP filters should be replaced every 1-3 months. You cannot reuse them. You
will want to change the disposable in-line bacteria filters every 30 days.

Reusable filters should be replaced every 12-24 months depending
on routine maintenance.

How Do I Clean My Machine Filter?

Unless your machine uses a reusable filter, it is recommended
to dispose of the CPAP filter and not attempt to clean and reuse. Disposable filters
are typically made of a thin white material and should be disposed/replaced
when noticeable build up can be seen or it has been 3 months. Reusable filters
are made of foam-like material and can be cleaned by hand and left to air dry.

I Want to Submit a Self-Claim to My Insurance. Can I Do
This?

In most cases you can submit a claim form for an out-of-net
network provider. You may receive reimbursement back from your provider
depending on your coverage and co-pay. The HCPC code for disposable CPAP
filters is A7038. The HCPC code for reusable CPAP filters is A7039.

Do I Need a Prescription for This Product?

No, machine and mask parts do not require a prescription for
purchase. Often you can prolong the life of your CPAP machine by replacing your
CPAP filter on a frequent basis!
