Special Features and Benefits

  • AirPillow Seal - The seal uses CPAP pressure to self-inflate to create an effective yet gentle double seal into and around the nose. The air pillow can move and flex in any direction without compromising the seal. The air pillow seal is 3D contoured with fine variable thickness silicone (VTS) and uses pressure from your machine to self-inflate in order to create an effective yet gentle double seal into and around the nose.
  • Adjustable Headgear - The adjustable nature of the F P Pilairo Q headgear fits a greater range of CPAP user head sizes and enables sizing adjustment to the patient's preference.
  • Stretchwise Headgear - The Stretchwise Headgear is made from a soft elasticized, latex free thread with stretch properties, the Pilairo nasal pillow mask automatically adjusts for a quick easy fit.
  • Frame - The low-profile frame of the Fisher and Paykel Pilairo CPAP mask with headgear is stable, durable and small, and ensures a clear line of sight. The delivery tube is lightweight, very flexible and designed to minimize pressure or pull on the face. The stabilizers provide the support frame for the AirPillow Seal and aids in stability.
  • Q Cover - The Pilairo nasal pillow cover provides quieter use and minimal draft for a more restful sleep for you and your bed partner.
  • Ball and Socket Elbow - Rotates for freedom of movement while reducing drag from the air tube connected to the F P Pilairo Q nasal pillow mask.

What Style of CPAP Mask is This?

This is a nasal pillow style CPAP mask. These masks are the least invasive and use silicone pillows that
seal in or around the outside of the nostril only.

Will This Brand
of Mask Work with Any CPAP Machine?

Most CPAP masks are designed
to be universal and will work with any manufacturer. Example: Your Philips
Respironics CPAP mask will work with your ResMed CPAP machine. The masks are
also designed to fit any brand of standard 22mm CPAP tubing. The exception to
the rule will be for certain travel CPAP machines like the ResMed AirMini
whereas special masks and connectors are needed.

I Want to Submit a Self-Claim to My Insurance. Can I Do
This?

In most cases you can submit a claim form for an out-of-net
network provider. You may receive reimbursement back from your provider
depending on your coverage and co-pay. The HCPC code for a nasal pillow CPAP
mask is A7034 and A7035

How Often Should I Replace This Mask?

This will depend on how well you clean and maintain your
CPAP mask. The typical lifespan for the complete mask is 3-12 months based on
care. The cushion seal and headgear should be replaced every 1-3 months based
on wear and tear. Signs to replace will include noticeable mask leakage and/or
discoloration.

How Do I Clean This Mask?

You should consult the owner’s manual that is included with
your mask system. The rule of thumb for most CPAP masks is to clean with mild
soap by hand and let air dry. It is important to clean your cushion seal daily
to remove facial oils, makeup or dirt that can cause mask leaks. Your headgear
strap should be cleaned by hand weekly and left to dry by room air.

Nasal Pillow had strong chemical odor

Love the design, but have not used it yet because the nasal pillow had an extremely strong chemical odor. I washed it in soapy water, soaked it for a while. That helped, but it still has a slight odor. I have been using nasal pillows for about seven years; NEVER had an issue like this before. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Great Nasal Pillow Mask

Great Nasal Pillow Mask. I have tried the other nasal pillow mask without too much luck, they always bothered my nose and made it sore where the prongs go , but this cushion is working great. Also really like having the open field of vision. No complaints here.

BEST FITTING MASK I HAVE TRIED SO FAR

I have tried a bunch of masks; from full face to nasal pillow. So far, this is the best fitting and most comfortable mask yet. The self inflating pillow makes for a great seal. There is sufficient room for my nose between the pillow prongs, which seems to be a problem with other masks and nasal pillows. There is no interference with other parts of my nose and it is not affected by my facial hair. I had to replace the pillow after about a year of nightly use and the part was readily available. So, so far I am very happy with it going on about 3 years of use.

Love the concept and there are issues.

First, let me say what I like about this mask. It's lightweight and comfortable, and I can wear my glasses while I'm wearing the mask. In fact, a few times I've almost forgotten to take them off before going to sleep because I'm so used to using a normal mask. Cleaning is also easy, although I have forgotten to remove the filter a few times. Now the downside. While in theory a nasal pillow creates a good seal, it still sometimes leaks on my face. When using just the single strap, it's easy for me to accidentally knock it off my face, although this generally only happens when I'm shifting in bed, and I quickly replace it. The full headgear works better, however the full headgear is not as comfortable to me. Second, the mask has been abrasive to my nostrils, and I can only wear it for a few days at a time. My nostrils are very sore when I wake up and remove it, although that passes quickly. However, a few times it has actually rubbed so much it opened up a sore on my nostril. Using Vaseline reduces this, however I don't know if that's affecting the seal. Also, occasionally a nose hair that's growing in near the edge of my nostril gets very abraded and starts to pimple. The bottom line is my AHI goes up when I'm wearing this mask and that's not a good thing. I love the concept of the mask and its comfort, and I think I'm going back to a normal mask. I can only give this one a weak recommendation.
