Swift II Nasal Pillow Mask with Headgear

ResMed Mirage Swift II nasal pillow is a style of CPAP mask prescribed for sleep apnea therapy. Not to be confused with full face masks, nasal pillow masks are the smallest apnea treatment interfaces and use pillow cushion inserts that provide a seal around the nostrils to make the CPAP masks more comfortable. Mirage Swift II nasal pillows are an older generation of the ResMed Mirage family of CPAP masks. The short tube assembly for this product allows the user to position the tubing either down to their side or above their head, which makes the Mirage II CPAP mask a lighter version of a CPAP mask with headgear. You can find the Mirage Swift II nasal pillow CPAP mask in small, medium, and large masks. Full face options can be bulky, but the Mirage Swift II nasal pillows system is made to be comfortable, with a clear field of vision and an easy fit.

A nasal pillow style of CPAP mask is typically prescribed for users that are on a standard CPAP or Auto CPAP machine with a pressure setting that is under 12cm/H20. There are some users that can tolerate a nasal pillow mask on higher pressures, but the risk for dryness and irritation increases. For these users it is recommended to use a heated humidifier and a heated CPAP tube (if the option is available).

What Style of CPAP Mask is This?

This is a nasal pillow style CPAP mask. These masks are the least invasive and use silicone pillows that seal in or around the outside of the nostril only.

Will This Brand of Mask Work with Any CPAP Machine?

Most CPAP masks are designed to be universal and will work with any manufacturer. Example: Your Philips Respironics CPAP mask will work with your ResMed CPAP machine. The masks are also designed to fit any brand of standard 22mm CPAP tubing. The exception to the rule will be for certain travel CPAP machines like the ResMed AirMini whereas special masks and connectors are needed.

I Want to Submit a Self-Claim to My Insurance. Can I Do
This?

In most cases you can submit a claim form for an out-of-net
network provider. You may receive reimbursement back from your provider depending on your coverage and co-pay. The HCPC code for a nasal pillow CPAP mask is A7034 and A7035.

How Often Should I Replace This Mask?

This will depend on how well you clean and maintain your
CPAP mask. The typical lifespan for the complete mask is 3-12 months based on care. The cushion seal and headgear should be replaced every 1-3 months based on wear and tear. Signs to replace will include noticeable mask leakage and/or discoloration.

How Do I Clean This Mask?

You should consult the owner’s manual that is included with
your mask system. The rule of thumb for most CPAP masks is to clean with mild soap by hand and let air dry. It is important to clean your cushion seal daily to remove facial oils, makeup or dirt that can cause mask leaks. Your headgear strap should be cleaned by hand weekly and left to dry by room air.
