CPAP Machines and CPAP Masks Cleaning and Maintenance Schedule
- Daily care of your CPAP equipment and accessories:
- Clean your CPAP mask or nasal pillows using a fragrance free shampoo (baby shampoo works great) or warm soapy water. Rinse and then let air dry.
- Never use alcohol on your CPAP masks or nasal pillows, it may break down the material.
- Empty your humidifier and then let it air dry.
- Be sure to always use distilled water in your humidifier to avoid mineral deposit build-up.
- In the case of illness, chamber and other parts should be disinfected with straight white vinegar, and then rinsed with water.
- Weekly care of your CPAP equipment and accessories:
- Wash headgear with warm soapy water, rinse and let air dry. Do not put in washer and dryer.
- Wash tubing in warm soapy water, rinse and air dry.
- Wipe the machine with a soft, damp cloth or CPAP disinfectant wipes.
- Wash water chamber with warm water and straight white vinegar, rinse and let air dry. This will also help rid accessories of plastic odor.
- Monthly care of equipment:
- Check your air filter.
- Check the integrity of your mask
- Check your tubing for any potential leaks (especially if you have pets)
